The Ohmapi Curriculum
Our curriculum teaches you how to guide your child to learn through nature, while in nature. In it you will discover how to seamlessly weave academics into nature studies in a way the makes learning fun, meaningful and memorable! Your child will learn language arts, math, science and history. In addition to lessons, and equally important, is the time spent exploring nature, solving riddles, playing games, listening to stories, learning through doing, making observations and doing handwork. All of that is included in the curriculum. It is the Ohmapi way.
The intent…
When I created this curriculum, I focused on a few very specific goals—things I knew I needed as a homeschooling parent, and that I know many others are looking for too.
First, It had to work
Every lesson in this curriculum has been tested in the real world—with real children, outside, in all kinds of weather and moods. These are not just good ideas on paper. These are practices that have been lived, refined, and proven to work.
Second, it had to be truly comprehensive.
Homeschooling is already a big commitment. You shouldn’t have to spend hours sifting through songs to find the “right” seasonal song or hunting down meaningful activities. This curriculum includes it all: songs, games, stories, crafts, and more—thoughtfully chosen, beautifully integrated, and ready for you to use, giving you more with your child and less time researching.
Third, it needed a clear and joyful progression
This isn’t just a collection of activities—it’s a well-sequenced, developmentally appropriate journey from fall to spring. Each lesson builds on the last, guiding your child through first-grade skills step-by-step. Concepts are introduced, revisited, and deepened over time—helping your child build true mastery while staying connected to nature, creativity, and joy.
Fourth, it had to show you how to teach—not just what to teach.
Each lesson includes gentle guidance on how to present the material in a way that makes sense to your child. You’ll find step-by-step instructions, language you can use, and strategies for guiding understanding through experience and connection. For example, when introducing a new letter sound, you’ll find cues on what to say and how to describe the sound in a way your child can actually grasp and remember.
This is not an “open and go” curriculum—and that’s intentional. If you’re choosing to homeschool, you’re making a meaningful investment in your child’s learning. That takes time, presence, and preparation.
And finally, it had to be user-friendly.
Everything is designed to be practical, accessible, and easy to navigate. And beautiful…because beauty inspires us and brings calm. You should feel supported, not overwhelmed.
It’s Designed for Real Parents, Real Kids, and Real Life
parent participation
This curriculum invites you to spend about four hours per week preparing: learning the songs, practicing the lessons, gathering supplies, and becoming confident in what you’ll teach. When you step into the role of teacher, you and your child both thrive.
It’s an investment. But it’s one that pays off in deeper connection, growing confidence, and a love of learning that lasts far beyond this one year.
By the end of the year, your child will be reading, writing, exploring, asking big questions, and expressing themselves with confidence. And you’ll be right there with them, watching it all unfold.
That’s the magic of homeschooling.
